Terms of use

The basic rules for using FixMyStreets properly and safely.

Last updated: 26 October 2026

1. The service

FixMyStreets helps you report problems in public space: potholes, broken pavements, street lights out, cleaning and green-space issues, parking that blocks ramps, pavements, crossings or chargers. Each report is emailed to the service responsible for the place and the category, usually the municipality or, for some categories, the police. Most reports also appear on the public map.

The site may be used by people over 15.

By using the site you accept these terms. If you do not agree, do not send reports and do not use the account features.

2. Reports

Before sending a report, make sure the place on the map and the category are right. Report only what you have seen yourself, and describe it accurately.

The report reaches the service on your behalf, but it is not an official application with a protocol number and does not replace the emergency services. For anything urgent call 112, 100 or 199.

3. With or without an account

You can report without an account. Without an email the report is sent anonymously, but you will not hear what happened. If you give an email, we send you a link to open an account if you wish and follow your reports.

You can sign in with email and password or with Google, Apple or Microsoft. You are responsible for access to your device and your email. Accounts for municipalities and other bodies are created by us, once we have checked they belong to the body.

4. SMS to 100

For reports that go to the police, after sending you can, if you wish, open a ready SMS to 100. The message is prepared on your device and is not sent automatically: you decide whether to check it, change it or send it.

The site does not represent the Hellenic Police or any municipality and does not guarantee that a message or a report will be received, examined or lead to any particular action.

5. Proper use

The following are not allowed:

  • false, misleading, repeated or malicious reports;
  • personal data of others that the report does not need;
  • abusive content, harassing or targeting people, and using the site for an unlawful purpose;
  • automated mass submission and any attempt to get around the limits or security measures.

We may hide or correct content that breaks these rules, and limit or stop access where there is abuse, a risk to the service or a legal obligation.

6. What is public

The map and the report pages may show the place, the category, the description, the photos (with number plates and faces blurred), the date, the updates and the progress of the report, as well as aggregate statistics.

Your email and phone are never shown publicly; your name only if you choose. Reports that go to the police are not published. More in the Privacy policy.

7. Availability and third-party services

We try to keep the site available and the services' details right, but there may be interruptions, delays or errors. The map, the address search, signing in with others and sending email rely partly on third-party services, which may change or be unavailable.

8. Limits of liability

FixMyStreets is a tool for recording and sending reports. The platform runs on the volunteer contribution of citizens, with no funding from any foundation. It does not check every report on the spot, does not decide on offences and does not replace the competent authorities; the service that receives a report is responsible for dealing with the problem.

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for decisions based only on users' content, for actions or omissions of municipalities and other bodies, or for the site being temporarily unavailable.

9. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms when the site's features or the legal requirements change. The current version and the date of the last update are always on this page.

These terms are governed by Greek law and the law of the European Union.

10. Contact

For questions about these terms or how the site works, write to [email protected] or use the Contact page.
